Cannot create file on Outlook error when opening attachment file


Do you ever use e-mail with Microsoft Outlook? If you ever to use it, you perhaps see this message “Cannot create file: Hello world.xlsx. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permission for the folder.” This message happens when you try to open a file attachment in Microsoft Outlook. But you should not worry about this message because we have solution for fix it. This problem occurs usually when Outlook cannot access the temp file on temporary folder that it store for attachment file of Microsoft Outlook. If you want to resolve this problem, you can try the following steps one by one.
Note: Hello world.xlsx is just example file. It depends on file that you attached.


For Window 7
  • Start the Windows Key, then you need to press letter “R” to bring up the Run dialog box.
  • When you go Run dialog box, please type “Regedit“, then press “Enter“.
  • On header menu, please click “Edit” and choose “Find” then type “OutlookSecureTempFolder“.
  • You need to wait till display new box. It means that when regedit has found the entry, it will show and tell you where your Microsoft Outlook temporary file are stored. For example: 
  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\FXI45LWX\
  • Please double click on “OutlookSecureTempFolder” to copy location of temporary folder.
  • Please copy location of temporary folder, then click Window key+E and past this location on box.
  • Please click Enter, you will see all files on this temporary folder.
  • Please delete all of the files in this folder
  • Please restart Microsoft Outlook and you should be able to open attach files again.





For Window 10
It is not deferent from Window 7. You just follow above step. You will can delete temporary files that store when you open file on Microsoft Outlook.

  • When you go Run dialog box, please type “Regedit“, then press “Enter“.
  • On header menu, please click “Edit” and choose “Find” then type “OutlookSecureTempFolder“.
  • You need to wait till display new box. It means that when regedit has found the entry, it will show and tell you where your Microsoft Outlook temporary file are stored. For example: 
  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\FXI45LWX\
  • Please double click on “OutlookSecureTempFolder” to copy location of temporary folder.
  • Please copy location of temporary folder, then click Window key+E and past this location on box.
  • Please click Enter, you will see all files on this temporary folder.
  • Please delete all of the files in this folder
  • Please restart Microsoft Outlook and you should be able to open attach files again.
